Get to know our board members

Posted by Michelle Brownridge on September 8th, 2016

I have been involved in the heritage field, both in BC and in Saskatchewan, since 1989. I moved to Saskatoon with my husband and two boys in 2001, and we now call Saskatchewan home. I began working at the Diefenbaker Centre in 2003, first as Assistant Director, then as Acting Director, and now as the Curator and Collections Manager.

I have always been impressed at how united the heritage community is in Saskatchewan, and how lucky we are to have so many museums in which the province’s history has been safeguarded and exhibited for years. I believe that today is an exciting time to be in this field! We have opportunities to expand our facilities and to help develop non-traditional museums, such as ecomuseums and virtual museums. We are also being called upon to respond to our growing and changing communities by reaching out to people who have been marginalized in the past, and to include those who are new arrivals to our province. The crucial support that MAS provides will continue to assist museums in navigating these changes, and the Board is here to help steer the way.

It has been my privilege to have served on the MAS Board for the last year and to continue in my new role as Vice President. I am committed to helping advance heritage across the province, and to support MAS in achieving its vision and purpose. Most of all, I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible, and to hear your thoughts on how the Board can be a strong voice in representing your heritage interests.

All the best,

Teresa
