First Nations Themed Paintings for Transfer
The Kelowna Museums, in BC, is deaccessioning a collection of paintings painted by a local amateur artist, Oliver Jackson, who was British. Many of the paintings are First Nations themed. There are some portraits, landscapes, and wildlife paintings. There are some plains First Nation pieces. while they are not very good quality, they are great to open discussions on admiration vs appropriation.
Please contact Nikki Bose, email@example.com, if you are interested in seeing an inventory or photographs of the paintings. They are available for transfer to other museums and heritage or public institutions. Recipient museums are asked to cover any mailing and shipping costs.
