Archivist/Documentarist – The Sturgis Station House Museum

Rate: $6,500 (approx.. 180 hours) Duration: May 1 2024 to March 28 2025 Tasks: Scan photos, attend sessions where members of the public identify the persons, places and events in the photos; accession the artifacts (photos) into the database, ensure photos are uploaded correctly to the online gallery, correctly store the hard copies, compile monthly report of work completed

The Sturgis Station House Museum (Sturgis, Saskatchewan) is seeking a documentarist/archivist for the period of May 1st 2024 to March 28th 2025. This person will be responsible for scanning approximately 1000 photos, compiling metadata (such as location, date and description) and populating the museum’s accessioning database, as well as their online collection with SaskCollections. Training will be provided on proper handling of photos, accessioning and SaskCollections data input. All materials, equipment and office space will be provided, including a desk and chair, white gloves for handling photos, scanner, photo sleeves and boxes. Technical Requirements: Must be able to converse and communicate in English. Experience with scanning hardware and software is preferred, but not required. Attention to detail is a must. As such, the successful candidate will not be an employee or deemed and employee of the Sturgis Station House Museum and therefore no deductions will be made for CPP or EI. Overtime will not be paid, nor will vacation pay. The total amount shall not exceed $6,500, even if the hours worked exceed the approximate 180 hours. Payments will be made in even installments monthly.
