Black and Rural Saskatchewan – Performances by Artist and Folklorist, Shayna Jones Depicting Black Lives on the Saskatchewan Plains
Heritage Saskatchewan is excited to share that we have been working with artist and folklorist, Shayna Jones, in partnership with the Saskatchewan African Canadian Heritage Museum (SACHM) and the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan, on our latest living heritage project, Black and Rural Saskatchewan. The project celebrates and tells the story of African-Canadian people living in our province, and will take the form of performances and written interpretations. Artist and folklorist, Shayna Jones, interprets stories of pride and struggle, dismay and triumph from the mouths of African-descent black Canadians who call the Saskatchewan plains their home.
Plan to take in a performance near you. Note – if you are planning to attend the June 23rd afternoon performance, Heritage Sask requires you to RSVP; however, for the other performance RSVPs are not necessary.
Note - These are community events, and are free of charge.
