Museum Assistant and Program Assistant - Grand Coteau Heritage & Cultural Centre

The GRAND COTEAU HERITAGE & CULTURAL CENTRE in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan is seeking two full-time summer students for the positions of Museum Assistant and Program Assistant for the period of May 1 to August 20, 2020.

Program Assistant duties include: summer program and event planning, promotion and delivery; guiding school tours; responsibility for summer tourism initiatives

Museum Assistant duties include: various museum tasks related to the collections including documentation, research and maintenance of exhibitions, assisting with public programming, and tourism.

Wage for each position: Minimum $14.69/hour

This employment opportunity is made available through funding provided by Canadian Heritage: Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations. All potential candidates must be registered with YCW and have been a full-time student (as defined by his or her educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW job and intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW job.

Skills Required: Successful candidates will have excellent communication and computer skills, creativity and initiative. Skills related to planning or specific job tasks are also additional assets. Preference may be given to students with education goals related to Education, Art, History and/or Marketing as well as related volunteer experience. A willingness to learn, plan and carry out projects from initiation to completion is essential.
