Call for Presenters: Museums Association of Saskatchewan Conference 2020

The Museums Association of Saskatchewan (MAS) is a non-profit, collective organization of over 250 member museums and a total membership of over 400, including individuals and associates.  We are an umbrella organization representing a diverse range of Saskatchewan museums from large institutions to small, volunteer run community museums.

In 2020 the MAS Conference is being held in Estevan, Saskatchewan on Friday June 5th and Saturday June 6th.

This year’s conference theme is Stuff to Stories 2.0

Stories are universal. More than ever before, we all read, watch and listen to stories, from books to Netflix, films to podcasts, stories are ubiquitous and a part of what make us human.

As museums face mounting challenges of relevancy, representation, funding, succession planning and more, stories can be a powerful tool in addressing these challenges. Integrating storytelling and stories in museum practice allows museums to look beyond the physical objects themselves in a collection to place a deeper value on what we collect, why we collect it and how we can explore the humanness around an object.

MAS’s 2020 conference Stuff to Stories 2.0 will explore ideas related to stories and storytelling in museums including:
