Community Co-Curation: Carrying On
MAS Conference 2022
June 10-11, 2022 | Estevan, Saskatchewan
This year’s conference theme is Community Co-Curation: Carrying On
Museums are committed to serving communities and addressing social needs. Socially-engaged museum practice is a critical area of discussion, perhaps even more now than as it was in the past. Through examining the current struggles many continue to face, as well as success stories, we are able to look at what museums have been, what museums are becoming and what museums could become.
As some museums are reframing their missions, redressing prior wrongs, and even rethinking the experiences they are providing, others are creating more inclusive approaches to collecting, interpreting and storytelling. Some are even embracing new technologies to continue to present to existing and new audiences in innovating ways.
Through resilience, sustainable development, a strong focus on community engagement, education and preservation of cultural identity, we are creating a new form of collaboration and repatriation to carry us forward.
- MAS’s 2020 conference Community Co-Curation: Carrying On will explore ideas related to community engagement, technologies, and ‘carrying on’;
- not limited to but may include:
- Reconsidering Museums, National Project
- Cultural Awareness and Competency
- Contemporary Programming
- Inclusivity
- Reconciliation
- Relevance of Community Partnerships
- Online Educational and Virtual Tours
- Fundraising Strategies
We invite you to join this important conversation and submit a proposal to provide a presentation at the MAS conference on June 10th or June 11th, 2022.
