Culture Days - September 27, 28 & 29

Posted by Em Ironstar on September 23rd, 2013

Culture Days is almost here and the countdown is on! There are over 175 registered Culture Days activities in Saskatchewan. We are so happy to see that there are many museums participating! Why is this so important? Culture Days invites people to come together and participate in activities, helping to unite communities. It is the perfect opportunity to get new visitors to your museum and get them excited about heritage. You can view the full list of activities happening in Saskatchewan on the Culture Days website.

This year Culture Days has introduced even more ways to help organizations promote their events. They have provided a variety of resources on their website that help you to register, promote and prepare for your event. These include tipsheets, logos, videos, promotional materials, templates, guides and much more! We hope everyone has taken advantage of these resources in order to make each activity a success! You can find these in the tips and tools section of the Culture Days website.

}As well, SaskCulture has provided Culture Days animateurs again this year. This year’s animateurs are Carol Daniels, Shayna Stock, Matt Josdal and Karlie King. These individuals were hired to travel across the province, visiting local community planners, libraries, museums and artists to help brainstorm and build community support for Culture Days. Please contact Marian Donnelly, Culture Days Coordinator at or by phone at (306) 780-9295 if you would like more information about the Culture Days Animateurs.

The I Heart Culture Contest is another initiative put together by SaskCulture. This contest is your opportunity to share what you love about Saskatchewan. It is primarily a social media contest where you can post your entries on Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook using the hashtag #iheartculture. Every time you post something with that hashtag, it’s an entry to the contest! The winners receive a prize package called The Ultimate Saskatchewan Culture Experience. Be sure to check out the I Heart Culture website for more details.

If you are holding a Culture Days event and have not registered it yet, please do so on the Culture Days website as soon as possible. By registering your activity, you will be included in a national database of activities happening over the course of the weekend. This database is the primary way that the public finds out what is happening over the weekend, it you want people to come out to your activity, register now!

We would like to wish everyone the greatest success in your activities this Culture Days weekend!
