Summer Arts Educator for Youth Godfrey Dean Art Gallery, Yorkton SK Part-Time $22-25/hr Position begins June 11, 2025 JOB DESCRIPTION: The Godfrey Dean Art Gallery is seeking a Youth Arts Educator to support our summer programs, events and workshops, with the possibility of extending this position year- round. This role involves developing and delivering inclusive art programs across various mediums, fostering a safe space for diverse communities, including First Nations, newcomers, 2SLGBTQI+, and youth with disabilities. Spend the summer in Saskatchewan’s Parkland, representing the most extensive boreal-grassland transition in the world, with numerous trails, lakes, and beautiful Good Spirit and Duck Mountain Provincial Parks close by. Through healthy role-modelling, building belonging and mastery, and reminding youth that their identities and stories are important and respected, your work will sustain relationships with a close-knit community eager to celebrate art and creativity.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Program Development & Delivery • Create and teach dynamic art classes (painting, sculpture, zine making, digital media, textiles, etc.) using accessible materials. • Purchase supplies, equipment, and snacks for classes. • Adapt lessons for varying skill levels. • Ensure accessibility through adaptive tools, and trauma-informed practices. • Foster inclusivity with safe environments and diverse representation in curriculum. 2. Community Engagement • Outreach to community partners and organizations, including social media updates and communicating with participants about upcoming classes. • Organize a final showcase celebrating youth work and community diversity. 3. Qualifications: • Education/Experience: Diploma/Degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or equivalent experience. Minimum 2 years teaching youth. • Skills: Proficiency in multiple art forms, resourcefulness in rural settings, and strong interpersonal skills. • Applicants under consideration will be required to clear a Vulnerable Sector Check.
