Job Title: Communications and Social Media Assistant (Part-Time, 1-Year Contract)
Location: In-person at the Ukrainian Museum of Canada, 910 Spadina Crescent East, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan 
Hours: 20 hours per week | Occasional evening and weekend hours required
Wage: $22/hour

Position Overview: The Ukrainian Museum of Canada is seeking a proactive and creative Communications and Social Media Assistant to support the promotion of a soon-to-be launched website and brand refresh. Reporting to the Communications Manager, this role is ideal for an individual with a passion for Ukrainian culture, social media, and content creation. The assistant will play an integral role in helping to boost social media engagement, increase brand recognition, and attract both online and in-person visitors to the museum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Coordination:
    • Assist in creating and executing a social media strategy across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and potentially BlueSky.
    • Produce and schedule engaging content that reflects the museum’s initiatives, including exhibition highlights, event promotions, and fundraising campaigns.
    • Monitor social media analytics and collaborate with the Communications Manager to optimize strategies and increase engagement.
  • Content Creation:
    • Create and edit visually appealing posts, including graphics, images, and videos.
    • Write, edit, and proofread content for the museum’s website, newsletters, and other communications channels.
    • Support the creation of press releases and media kits to promote museum events, exhibitions, and special initiatives.
    • Help implement and maintain brand guidelines across all communication platforms.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Help create and share event content across social media to build excitement and encourage attendance.
  • Other Support:
    • Provide additional communications and marketing assistance as needed to support museum operations and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and writing skills, with excellent proficiency in English.
  • A strong interest or experience in content creation, photography, video editing, or graphic design would be highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite is an asset.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software and tools as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • A passion for Ukrainian and Ukrainian Canadian culture and history is an asset.
