Programs Summer Student – WDM Saskatoon

This position works in developing and facilitating summer programming in the museum and for off-site community outreach, including interpreting the Museum’s collection for the public. One of the most important aspects of this position is the planning, preparation, and facilitation of three weeks of the Museum’s summer camps for children ages 7 – 10. The candidate will work directly under the Education/Public Programs team, with the additional mentorship of the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator. This job presents an opportunity for the student to experience working with the public, volunteers, and staff coordinating and managing activities and tasks in a professional museum setting. Only youth aged 15 – 30 at the time of employment are eligible for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities: • Become familiar with all aspects of the WDM Saskatoon. • Update and present existing programs, activities and demonstrations. • Plan and develop new programs, activities and demonstrations for all ages. • Generate effective and creative ways to enhance public visitation and engage the community. • Assist in the development and facilitate the delivery of our children’s summer camp. • Assist and work in conjunction with the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to create and facilitate volunteer involvement in WDM programs. • General office and other duties as assigned. This is a 16 week (May 7 – August 27, 2025) full time position. The hours include 8:30 am to 5:00 pm daily, and to 8:00 pm on Thursdays. Shifts will include weekdays, weekend, and some evening work. Only youth aged 15 – 30 at the time of employment are eligible for this position. The successful candidate will be required to provide a criminal record check.
