Digital Educational Outreach and Engagement Coordinator (Internship) – Museum of Antiquities, University of Saskatchewan

The Museum of Antiquities, University of Saskatchewan is offering an internship in Museum Digital Educational Outreach and Engagement from September 2, 2025 to March 31, 2026. The Intern will work 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional work hours performed on the weekends. The specific tasks performed during this internship will include: planning, developing and composing digital educational and outreach programming for the Museum of Antiquities with a specific emphasis on K-12 programming, as well as educational programming for adults and providing digital access to museum educational content for people with special needs; and promoting the Museum of Antiquities’ programming activities through social media outlets such as Facebook and Instagram.

The position requires the intern to have a significant interest in working in museums, particularly in the museum’s role of being an interactive and engaging cultural asset for the community. Given the nature of the Museum of Antiquities’ collection and mandate dealing with ancient and medieval culture, undergraduate training in the humanities is an asset, although individuals with degrees in Museum Studies or Cultural Heritage Management or related area are desirable. The successful candidate should have a keen interest in obtaining professional proficiency in their communications skills and be comfortable with engaging with cultural groups and museum professionals within Saskatoon and the wider Saskatchewan community. The successful candidate’s primary task will be to assist the Museum’s Director in developing a program of events, activities and resources, which will generate awareness about, and interactions with, the Museum’s collections and cultural initiatives amongst members of the wider Saskatoon community. The intern will have the opportunity to work with community groups and other museum professionals in order to develop projects that better engage the community with the Museum and its collections. The intern will obtain employable experience and skills related to communications, community outreach and engagement, as well as project planning within a museum setting. The intern will also gain valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of a museum. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in working with community organizations and a familiarity with a wide variety of social media. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills and enjoy interaction with fellow workers and museum professionals. In addition, the successful candidate should have proven organizational skills with a desire to develop them further through this experience. Competency with museum-related computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Canva is also required. The successful candidate will function predominantly in English, although a background and proficiency in French is an asset.
