Following its launch of the Digital Preservation Toolkit, the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) is establishing an informal Digital Preservation Discussion Group to develop and share best practices in the preservation of digital content in Canadian Museums. CHIN will use this group to help museums take up resources offered through the Toolkit, and to identify what resources need to be added or modified. CHIN also hopes this discussion group will be used by its members to raise and discuss any digital preservation issues, or projects of interest to them. If your Canadian museum is currently undertaking a digital preservation project, or is considering the cost and benefit of digital preservation, you are encouraged to participate. The group will meet either on-line or via teleconference quarterly, or as required. The primary language of communication will be English, but participation in French is welcome.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Ern Bieman, CHIN Heritage Information Analyst at [email protected].
