MAS Staff will be available Monday June 3rd until Friday June 7th in person and online via Zoom, from 9am – 3pm. Join us in office, 424 McDonald St, Regina.

Can’t pop in? Schedule a time and we will meet you on the interwebs! Email [email protected] with your preferred time, and we will schedule you in.

All resources shared will be made available in person and digitally.

Things to bring:

  • Student’s Job Descriptions
  • Museum’s Collection Policy
  • Museum’s Mandate, Mission Statement

Things to consider:

  • The museum sector has changed very rapidly since the pandemic
    • changes include shifts in the ways that tourists experience and choose their events
    • Changing community and societal expectations around social issues
    • Increasing expectation for online content
    • Repatriation and implementation of UNDRIP
    • Shifting demographics in communities

  • Why do we matter? In the past, there was an accepted and shared community value placed on museums, and with that came tourism and support dollars. All of this culminates in a struggle for relevancy.

  • What are some of the shifts that you have noticed?
  • How are you, or how do you see museums responding to these shifts?
  • What have you seen done differently since the pandemic?
  • What have you seen or done differently in the last year to increase your relevancy?
  • Where do you see museums in the next 5 years?
  • What will it take to get there?
  • How can MAS support you as you navigate these changes?

What to expect:

  • Resources – MAS has invested in so many books, speakers, courses, and tip sheets and we would love to get these into your hands and chat about how to use them for your specific museums
    • Resource Library – unique, up-to-date library containing material on a full range of museum-related topics valuable to all types and sizes of museums.
    • Equipment Loans – MAS maintains a variety of equipment kits available to loan to our members. These kits have been developed to assist members with protecting, preserving, and documenting collections, and facilitate the delivery of programs or events.
    • Tip Sheets
    • Publications
  • One on one support – Do you have a challenge or question that is specific to your museum? That is a part of the service we provide to our members, and we are happy to work with you through these challenges.

MAS Staff is looking forward to supporting you, and seeing you in person or online June 3rd – June 7th!
