The Climax Community Museum (CCM)Â operates 3 sites which chronicle the history of our area
1. CLIMAX COMMUNITY MUSEUM – 103- 2nd Ave East (in playground).
STEP INTO TIME – Experience a walk-in 1920’s general store and post office, a hospital, a shoemaker’s shop, a NWMP jail room, a ‘Rum Runner’s’ hide-out, a school room, a kitchen, a parlour, a child’s bedroom, a settler’s bedroom, and a seamstress site.
RANCH HISTORY – A unique piece of prairie ranch history – the only surviving Fire Drag used to suppress dreaded Prairie Fires. Custom-made in1906 for Ranch Foreman Harry Otterson for the ‘T-Bar Down’, ‘The 76’, The ‘Turkey Track’, and the ‘Whitemud Rancher’s Pool’.
ARTISTS & CHARACTERS: See where artist Levine Flexhaug got his early start, discover characters like Lady Plushbottom, Jack Goodman, Colonel Greenlay & John Gryde. Learn what The Gobblers got up to…
CLOTHING & UNIFORMS Featuring Boy Scouts, Brownie & Girl Guide uniforms, vintage prom and wedding dresses, clothing from the late1800’s to 1960’s including children’s garments, teacher’s attire, a nursing uniform, cap & cape, Army, Airforce, Navy and Saskatchewan Light Horse uniforms.
COLLECTIONS Licence plates, radios, and calendars including antique & vintage camera collection, model railroad, military, blacksmith tools, antique toys/games, Flexhaug originals, antlers, archives and more!
SPORTS – Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame recipients. Climax Cardinals & Mything Family. Provincial Hockey Champions the Climax Clippers, local NHL players and the Saskatchewan Provincial Fencing Champion. Also, Jack Dempsey boxing, wrestling & curling artifacts along with sports trophies.
2. CCM ART & CULTURE CENTRE – 209 Main StreetÂ
Features visiting exhibitions, museum presentations and workshops, including Canada National Film Day, Canada Day and Culture Days celebrations! It is wheelchair accessible and has a bathroom facility.
3. CCM ANTIQUE MACHINERY ANNEX – Junction Hwy 18 & Hwy 37
For agriculture and machinery enthusiasts., tractors, combines, plows, tillage equipment, cultivators, grain wagons, an elevator engine, a fire wagon, a fully restored Ford Model A car, a 1920s harvest cook car a well-digger and more!
