Discover Government House, a true Canadian treasure and a national Historic Site!

Built in 1891, this grand building first served as the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of the North-West Territories. Restored to the period of Lieutenant Governor Amédée Forget, who was in office from 1898-1910, the Amédée Forget Museum gives you a glimpse of life at Government House at the turn of the 20th century. The museum offers a number of engaging and ever changing public programs to further enhance your experience.

Government House offers visitors a variety of exhibits and features, including:

QEII art Gallery – This provides opportunities for local and provincial artisans to prominently display their works. This exhibit space—which has featured everything from quilting and photography to sculptures— changes regularly.

J.E.N. Wiebe Interpretive Centre – Share the excitement of Saskatchewan’s proud history and heritage. Explore the interactive multi-media presentations and murals. Through lively and engaging presentations gain a deeper understanding of the evolving constitutional roles of the lieutenant governor, as well as insight into the daily activities of the position.

Once Upon A Time Room – This is a hands-on discovery room decorated to reflect new themes throughout the year for preschool-aged children through to Grade 3.

Educational Room – This multipurpose room is used for a variety of activities including school programs, presentations and crafts.

Edwardian Gardens – The Edwardian Gardens were designed to please the eye and delight the senses. Stroll through the lush gardens and experience the “outdoor rooms” and thousands of vibrant annuals and perennials. The all-accessible pathways through the 8.5 acres take you to a simpler time.
