The Jasper Cultural & Historical Centre is located in the heart of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and is committed to the preservation and interpretation of the region’s arts and heritage. The three-story brick structure was originally built as a school in 1909 & 1914 and retrofitted to an arts and heritage centre in 1986. The building interiors still have the original molded-tin ceilings and hardwood floors.
The Centre features a variety of period rooms including: The Charlie Russell Room, a Western Gallery, Victorian Parlour, Hugh Varty Railway Room, medical, sports, rodeo and school rooms, three exhibition galleries, a period post office, board-walk room, reading room and several programme and meeting rooms as well as the Irvine Fleming rooms featuring early ranch life. In addition, the Centre offers a variety of programming throughout the year including women’s history month, Indigenous People’s celebrations and special events such as Canada Day and Car Classics. The Centre is also developing a gallery dedicated to women and their contribution to Southwest Saskatchewan’s heritage.
We are proud to be a Centre of diversity and are inclusive to all marginalized people, groups and organizations.
