The Shurniak Art Gallery houses founder Bill Shurniak’s private collection of original paintings, sculptures, and artifacts from around the world.

Opened in July 2005, the 8,000 square foot gallery welcomes visitors with a warm, hospitable atmosphere. The landscaped courtyard and grounds feature sculptures by esteemed Canadian artists Robert Davidson and Joe Fafard.

Seven gallery rooms, named after former and current villages in the area, showcase the permanent collection. Canadian paintings include pieces by Alan C. Collier, Nicholas de Grandmaison, James Henderson, Doris McCarthy, Franklin Arbuckle, Yehouda Chaki, William Winter, Robert Genn, Jeannette Perreault, Pat Service, Goodridge Roberts, Ross Penhall, Laurie Campbell, Allen Sapp, Robert Scott, Arthur Schilling, as well as many others. Denyse and Rod Simair, Pauline Newhouse, and Frank Sudol have pottery and turned wood pieces in the Gallery.

A whimsical bronze sculpture by Hélène LaBrie, and a beautiful silver and gold bowl designed by the renowned Haida artist Jim Hart, are also on display.

The gallery also features rotating exhibitions on loan from various established and emerging artists.

The Shurniak Art Gallery is open year-round with the following scheduled hours of operation:
Tuesday to Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Also for the months of June through December
Sundays: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. – to – Sundays: 12:00 noon – 4:00 pm
