Education Policy

Cancellation

MAS reserves the right to cancel any course at any time for any reason. MAS cannot guarantee continuation of any program should funding cease. The availability, date, and location of the course offerings are subject to change at any time.

Refunds

The registration fee will only be refunded if application is withdrawn at least five days prior to the course date or if the course is cancelled. In cases of weather conditions for in person courses, illness, and family emergencies, the five-day requirement may be waived by MAS on a case-by-case basis.

Grade Appeals

If students wish to appeal the grade they have obtained on an assignment or final course, they are to contact both the course instructor and the Learning Program Lead to file a request to have their grade appealed; and the justification for why they deem an appeal is warranted.

MAS will convene a review panel of Program staff members to review all materials provided by the instructor that serves as a basis for grading the course, and make a determination of the appeal. Once an appeal decision has been made, a second appeal may not be requested, and the higher of the two grades, where applicable, will be the final grade.

Academic Misconduct and Plagiarism

If a course instructor suspects that plagiarism has occurred, or if any party wishes to bring forth concerns surrounding the academic integrity of an individual or class session, the Learning Program Lead is to be contacted immediately.

MAS will convene a review panel of Program staff to investigate and review the claims. Other involved parties may be contacted, and there will be an examination of any materials relevant to the claims.

A further course of action will be determined based on any violations of the MAS Misconduct or Plagiarism Policy.

Academic misconduct is defined as any act by a student or students working in a group situation for the purpose to provide them with an unfair academic advantage and/or provide a false positive evaluation of their work. This misconduct can take multiple forms, not limited to and including:
