For many Saskatchewan museums their collections contain not only artifacts but documents as well, including books, letters, files, and photographs. Due to the unique nature of these items they require special care in their curation, organization, display, and use by the general public.
This workshop is structured to provide participants with the basic knowledge for creating and maintaining an archive. Designed for a novice or someone looking for a refresher, it will cover topics including:
- What are Archives?
- The Role of the Archivist
- Fundamental Principles of Archives
- Appraisal and Acquisition
- Arrangement and Description
- Making Archives Available
- Preservation and the Digital World
