For many Saskatchewan museums their collections contain not only artifacts but documents as well, including books, letters, files, and photographs. Due to the unique nature of these items they require special care in their curation, organization, display, and use by the general public.

This workshop is structured to provide participants with the basic knowledge for creating and maintaining an archive. Designed for a novice or someone looking for a refresher, it will cover topics including:

  • What are Archives?
  • The Role of the Archivist
  • Fundamental Principles of Archives
  • Appraisal and Acquisition
  • Arrangement and Description
  • Making Archives Available
  • Preservation and the Digital World

Apply for the 2025 Museum Improvement Micro Grant for Community Museums!

MAS is pleased to announce that the Government of Saskatchewan, Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport (PCS) is providing funding support to the Saskatchewan museum sector with $47,000.00 to be used to assist with technology upgrades, minor accessibility costs, and support for the development and delivery of programming that contributes to the access, cultural impact, and service to their communities.
